When in an interview, you want to be on top of your answers. Your answers plus your experience and qualifications are what help the employer make their decision as to whether or not you are the perfect choice. You need to show that you are a good fit both with your skills as well as getting along with co-workers and learning how to answer job interview questions is your ticket.

How To Answer The Most Commonly Asked Job Interview Question

Tell me about yourself- The employer wants to hear about your skills and personal characteristics which will show him or her the type of employee you will be. Tell the interviewer how you approach tasks or projects and what you love about accomplishing things such as "I love to jump right into projects and I especially love ones that challenge me." The interviewer does not want to know your life history. He or she is looking for what makes you the best choice. Use examples of how you handle situations.

Why should I hire you? - The first answer on your mind should that you are the best person for the job. You then need to tell them why you think that. For example: I would be the best person for the job as I have a passion for excellence. I always give each task 110% of my attention. I have an eye for detail and I see things through, making sure that I produce world class results and I don't settle for less."

What is your greatest weakness? - This is probably the toughest of all interview questions so you need to be real careful with your answer. You do not want to answer the same answer as most people so with answer like; "I am a perfectionist" or I want others to work as hard as I do." These are answers that they always here. Try something that shows a true weakness but add in what you are doing to overcome it. For example: "I try to complete complicated tasks alone rather then delegating duties because I feel I can do a better job. I have found that my quality of work suffers if I take on too much so I have been reading books on time management. This has taught me to use effective techniques for delegating things which has helped me to overcome this weakness." You do not want to point out a weakness that may show you cannot do the job properly.

How do you handle a stressful situation in the work place? You want to show the interviewer that you can handle things when it get tough. Tell them about your coping skills such as if you are having trouble with too many projects and deadlines, you make a priority list and work from it to get the jobs completed. Give them an example of a situation you handled ion the past and what the outcome was. Tell them about ways you reduce stress such as getting up from your desk and stretching or taking a break to get away from the situation for a few minutes to gain clarity. Let them know that you are not afraid to ask for assistance if it is a situation that you can not handle alone. If you great under pressure then let them know that.

Be sure to maintain good eye contact otherwise you may come across as being dishonest or uneasy communicating with others. You should also try to use the interviewers name a few times throughout the conversation. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the company and the position, it shows you're confident.
