Michaels was founded in 1976 by Michael J. Dupey in Dallas, Texas. Six years later control of the company was acquired by Samuel Wyly. Michaels went public in 1984 while the company only operated 16 retail stores. Over the next ten years, Michaels began an aggressive move to increase its number of retail arts and crafts stores.

Today, Michaels has grown into one of the biggest arts and crafts retailers in the United States. Their annual revenue per store is nearly $4 Million. They own and operate more than 1,000 retail stores throughout 49 states as well as Canada. Michaels has roughly 12,500 associates and they are based out of Irving, Texas.

Michaels offers a wide array of products to its loyal customers. Arts and crafts products include home décor items, floral items, scrapbooking, knitting, paints, crafts for kids, beading, and much more.

Working at Michaels is exciting, fast paced, and challenging. Employees have a great deal of contact with a variety of customers. Employees are expected to be knowledgeable about products as well as provide excellent customer service. Michaels offers extensive training to employees and there are many opportunities for career advancement. Employees can choose career paths in the retail store, corporate office, distribution center, and manufacturing or production facility.

Interested applicants will find applying for a position with Michaels convenient and easy. You can apply for a job at Michaels by visiting their webpage and submitting an online job application. At the bottom of the homepage select the "careers" link. You will be directed to another page where you will select the link entitled "join our team". At this point you can select the area in which you reside as well as any job categories that meet your interest.

Once you have found a position that you want to apply for you will need to register by creating a resume profile. To begin creating a resume profile you will make a username and profile. You will also need to input your name, email, address, phone, etc. After you have completed this portion you will enter your employment history along with additional information.

You will also need to create or paste your resume into the resume box at the bottom of the profile. Essentially, the resume profile is the online application. You will not have to complete any other online forms. After you have completely created a resume profile you will be able to apply for multiple positions with Michaels. You may also save and return at a later time.
