Let’s face it, when you enjoy the type of products that your employer puts out, you will be happier during your tenure. But even if you don’t like outdoor activities, it is easy to find at least one that you can easily fall in love with.

To apply for a job with the Bass Pro Shops, obviously the first thing you will need to do is visit their website. While it is not a priority, you should still take at least 15 minutes skimming through the site before proceeding to the online application. After you have done this, go to the bottom center of the page. You will find a box entitled “Company Information.” Inside this box is a subheading that reads “career center.” Click on this subheading.

You will then see six different categories. They are Retail Stores, Tracker Marine, General Office, Restaurants, Distribution Centers, and Tracker Plants. If you know which area that you would like to work in, click the appropriate box. If you are not sure, just click where it says “online job application” in the lower left hand corner.

An Application page will load. On the first line, put in your full name. Make sure you capitalize your first name, middle name, and last name. Not capitalizing your name will look unprofessional, and you will be less likely to be hired. Do likewise with your address. If you don’t get mail delivered to your house, you still want to use your street address and not your mailing address. For the line that wants your phone number, always include the area code. The area code should be in parenthesis, and the number you enter should look something like this. (555) 555-1212. If you don’t have an E-mail address, get one. There are many free e-mail sites like Yahoo or Google that will let you set up an account in minutes.

Below the contact information you will find a box that asks you what hours you are willing to work. Do not leave the weekend days blank, or indicate that you are not willing to work weekends. Weekends are peak hours for this type of company, and if you indicate that you do not wish to work weekends you probably won’t get hired.

The next six questions of the online job application at Bass Pro Shops are pretty self explanatory, and they should be answered honestly. The following section deals with education. If you did not graduate high school, put the last grade that you completed in the box. In the section that asks for “course of study” just type in something like “basic” or “college prep”.

When filling in your employment history, don’t leave any of the spaces blank. In the box that asks you to describe your responsibilities, tell them what you did for that particular employer. Never be negative about anything.

Below the area for you employment history, you will find a list of activities, and a request for your skill level in each of these activities. Answer each one honestly. If you claim to be a canoeing expert and you have never done it, you will be found out.

After this, just pick the location where you would like to work at Bass Pro Shops and submit your online job application. Hopefully you will be hearing from them soon, but a follow up call from you can never hurt.
